Are Batteries Covered Under Warranty?

There are many moving parts on a mobility product, all of which could go wrong and some point in its lifespan. That’s why we provide a Mobility Scooter Extended Warranty to make sure you don’t suffer any large repair bills following a breakdown. Whilst we try to cover as many of these parts as we can, such as wiring looms, motors, and gearboxes, we are constantly asked about batteries.

To clear up the confusion, then, the simple answer is no. Batteries are not covered under any of our warranty policies along with any other consumable parts. This includes a warranty for mobility scooters and powerchairs, but also our In-Home Extended Warranty policy. There are varying factors that affect the life of a battery, particularly one that is fitted to a mobility product. As such you can reasonably expect to have to replace it every so often.

Additional consumables such as brake pads, lights, and brushes for motors are also not covered under our warranty. The reasoning behind this is that all of these parts go under a lot of wear and tear, and they’re not essential components. Rest assured however as we cover all the larger parts that will save you from a more considerably sized repair bill.

There are some steps you can take to try to make the battery last as long as possible, such as regular charging and keeping it stored in the correct way. You should always consult your local mobility shop for specific advice relating to your product and the type of battery fitted.
