Are you living in a Park Home and feeling forgotten about? You're not alone. As winter drags on, almost a million households in the UK are struggling to pay their energy bills. The government promised to help them through the winter, but not everyone has received the £400 in energy support that most households have been getting since October. 

Park Home residents are among those who have not yet seen a penny. Sue Marshall, who has lived in her park home near Mansfield in Nottinghamshire for nine years, spoke to the BBC. She feels as if her community has been forgotten. "Nothing at all has come to fruition," she says. John Halfpenny and Linda King, also park home residents, say they were told they could apply in December, but are only now putting in their applications for their rebates, five months after the first automatic payments began. 

Park home residents pay their energy bills via the park home site owner, which means they have to apply for the rebate and have not received it automatically like other households. This delay has left many residents feeling like "second class" citizens. The government's online portal for the £400 Energy Bill Support Scheme Alternative Funding is now open for people like Sue, John, Linda and 900,00 other households to apply, including those who live in houseboats or have a communal electricity supply. The payment will arrive in one lump sum, although it could take up to six weeks. 

The delay has left many residents concerned about using their heating and other appliances. Sue says that people in her community were scared to put the heating on because they were worried about their bills. "People on their own and with ill health need the heating on, but they daren't do it because they're scared of the big bills," she says. 

On top of the delayed rebate, residents who use alternative fuels such as heating oil, LPG, or biomass are also owed an additional £200 payment. This applies to households like Patrick Raven's, who lives in the middle of Chesterfield and uses bottled gas for heating. Patrick has seen prices for bottled gas increase dramatically, and he's still waiting for his payment to arrive. "I think it's crazy. Most likely we will get it eventually, but it may be summer when we least need it, because we need it now. We've needed it during the winter, for the cold spells," he says. 

If you're a Park Home resident or use alternative fuels, make sure to apply for the Energy Bill Support Scheme Alternative Funding as soon as possible. The government says it is working to serve these additional households, but it could still take weeks for them to receive the payment. Don't let the cold shoulder from the government leave you out in the cold this winter.
